Jakarta – Kangean Energy Indonesia Ltd (KEI) won two awards at the TOP CSR 2017 event, in the category of “TOP CSR 2017 on Nawacita 7, Economic Empowerment at Costal Beach Community” for the company and “Top Leader on CSR Commitment” for President of KEI, Hirotaka Tanaka which held by BusinessNews Indonesia in collaboration with the National Committee on Governance and Indonesia CSR Community.

VP PR & GA KEI, Hardino, said “KEI as a PSC Contractor together with SKK Migas, which operates in the coastal areas of Sumenep Regency, East Java, surely have the duty and responsibility in supporting local government programs in the social and society empowerment, by running and applying a consistent and sustainable program of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), so that it will be useful and efficient for people and the environment around the KEI operational area”.

KEI implement the CSR programs by aligning corporate strategy and supporting the Nawacita 7 program that initiated by the President of Republic Indonesia, Joko Widodo. One of them is the Fisherman’s Empowerment Program for Seaweed Cultivation. “The program can create the independence of the local economy by moving the strategic sectors of the local economy by mentoring seaweed farming. ” Hardino added.

Furthermore, KEI also undertake mangrove plantation program which can keep the beaches from abrasion and reduce people’s habits for throwing garbage on the beach. Hardino said, “The program is continuous with one of the company’s business strategy to preserve the environment for safe and smooth operation of the company. With this program the operating environment becomes safer from abrasion and also increases the company image”.

KEI implement CSR programs in two districts, Sapeken and Raas. Several of the prime CSR Programs that implement in the society are Seaweed Development, Small Business Development based on Local Resources, Environmental Protection to Supporting Local Economy, and Electricity Development for Remote Island.
