Mojokerto, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ignasius Jonan inaugurated 10,101 House Connection (SR) of Natural Gas Distribution for households (Jargas) of Mojokerto and Mojokerto District on Friday, February 9th 2018, which funding by the State Budget (APBN) of year 2017.

The inauguration was attended by Secretary General of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) who also served as Acting Director General of Oil & Gas Ego Syahrial, Director of Planning and Oil & Gas Infrastructure Development Alimuddin Bason, President Director of PT PGN (Persero) Jobi Triananda Hasjim, Gas Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Yenni Andayani, Mayor of Mojokerto City Mas’ud Yunus and Vice Regent of Mojokerto Regency Pung Kasiadi, and also attended by President of Kangean Energy Indonesia (KEI) Hirotaka Tanaka and representatives of Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML) as Gas Sources Supplier.

Construction of Jargas is assigned to Pertamina and PGN with total of 5,101 SR in Mojokerto Regency and 5,000 SR in Mojokerto City. The gas supply for Mojokerto Regency taken from Kangean Energy Indonesia Ltd. (KEI) with total allocation of 0.25 MMSCFD.

Jargas in Mojokerto Regency and Mojokerto City are built because it is adjacent to two significant gas wells operated by KEI and HCML with total IDR 86 billion for Mojokerto District,” said Ignatius Jonan.

The Government committed to continuously encouraging and accelerating the Jargas program. Each year, the government spend APBN to increase jargas for households in various region, then people will feel the benefits of using natural gas, be more efficient, easy, practical, and can flow for 24 hours without fear of running out of Gas. Utilization of Jargas will save household expenses. People can save up to 36% compared to the 3Kg of LPG.

From the environmental side, natural gas emissions are much cleaner than using fuel and firewood. Natural Gas that piped to households is a very clean natural gas. Jargas are much safer because the pressure is lower than the 3kg LPG. If there is a leak, the gas will immediately rises upward into the free air, while LPG stay downward because the natural gas type is lighter than LPG.

The development of Gas distribution for households in East Java Province is growing rapidly due to the availability of gas source around East Java with good gas pipeline network and huge support from Regional Government. “If the Regional Government support, than we will give them again,” His said jokingly.

At the same time, President of KEI Hirotaka Tanaka expressed his appreciation to the Indonesian Government in developing the country. “We are very proud that the natural gas produced by KEI can be useful for the country. We will continue to do our best to support the government in building Indonesia and particularly East Java.” His added.
